Real life video gaming !!

Despite playing fighting games for a very long time at this point (literally half of my life 0~0) I've never actually been to a local event. That is unless you count my high school's end of year tournaments. I won one of those. With Smash 4 Ganondorf. Awesome.

Rivals of Aether II (Again, but different)

Last weekend I went to my very first local to play Rivals of Aether 2! The trains weren't running properly, so I had to make this god forsaken 100km journey with several transfers, it was miserable. I could only just make it in time due to how late they were starting the event ;-;

For some reason, despite not once entering any RoA 2 events, I was seeded to make top 8. In all honesty, it was a correct seeding, but it made me very nervous because that means someone HAD to have vouched for me being good even though there was nothing to show for it. So nervous in fact that it nearly completely overshadowed my social anxiety!

It was a lot of fun to finally meet some of the people I had known online for so long, they were all super chill and it was lovely to meet them ^-^ Playing in online brackets really doesn't tell you how much more fun playing the game locally is. Being able to play friendly games between sets does wonders for your tournament nerves as it turns out.

In the end my bracket run wasn't really that great. I went 2-2 and placed just outside of top 8, which is honestly a fine standing for my first local ever, but I'm a little sad about it because my goal was to make top 8. On top of that, there was only really one match in my run that actually mattered and I choked and lost it ;-; My first two matches were against either new players or non-Rivals players, so I won them both 0-2. My round 3 was against the first seed, and arguably one of the best players in the country, so that was NOT happening LOL. I choked and missed the kill on last stock game one, won game two, then got beat game three and eliminated. I'll be seeing that forward air whiff in my nightmares for weeks ;-; Really the bad feeling is just that I lost the only match that actually mattered. Just feels a lil' bad to underperform when someone went out of their way to vouch for me is all.

Still, it was a lot of fun! And I'm glad I went ^^ I'll do better next time though for sure, they better watch out >:)

What ISN'T awesome though, is the gamer flu I caught from going D: I've been sick since! I'm so tired of it! I only get sick about once per year, and it's never fun. At least comparitively this one hasn't been so bad, it's just not going away. This better not happen every month...

Today's music!

A friend of mine sent this song into the group chat a while ago and I've been hooked on it since. ROT FOR CLOUT by Jamie Paige is a vocal synth song about internet fame, which is a combination of things that usually reside outside my areas of interest but here we are.

Honestly I don't know what it is specifically about the song that appeals to me. Maybe it's the style of the visuals in the music video. Maybe I secretly don't hate voicebanks and unironically think Kasane Teto is awesome. Maybe I just love the chorus progression. Either way, it's a bit of a more vulgar song than what I normally listen to and feels relatively "against my self image", whatever that means. Still love it, though.

My favourite lines from the song are probably "If life is nothing but an endless race, you bet your ass I'm getting first place" and "I don't like what's at my core. Pray to god to fix my soul. But I don't need god's forgiveness; I need yours."

Fake life video gaming !!

I'm a reasonably-sized Yakuza fan, and just yesterday I finished Yakuza 6! Not going to spoil it here because I highly recommend playing the series, but wow. It was good. Probably one of the best I've played so far. And that's on top of it being in the dragon engine, which personally I enjoy less than the old one by a significant amount. It's so nice to have a story that is consistently good from start to end as well as both addressing the flaws of the previous games AND having a well thought out ending. Story wise this game nails the landing, which is such a relief after playing Yakuza 5. I have choice words about Yakuza 5 LOL. It's got amazing parts but the bad parts are REAL bad imo

Also been playing Pokemon TCG Pocket, it's alright :)

Life stuff ~

Feeling a lot better since last time which is nice. Still planning on putting some personal projects on the site, was going to do that today but uhhh I'm not going to lie, I was playing Bloons and Judgment LOL

As always, if you're reading this, ily, have a great day, byeeee!! <3
